About Rooster Valley Pheasants

16 Years of Pheasant Hunting Experience

Rooster Valley Pheasants was established in 1990. I loved to hunt pheasants and the opportunity to hunt pheasants was starting to decline. I started just doing the dog work and dog training for a friend who had raised turkey's all his life but had not hunted a lot. He had the expertise and equipment to raise the birds and I had the dogs and the desire to hunt. After the first year I took over all of the hunting and booking and worked to learn the art of raising quality pheasants. Raising quality pheasants is not an easy task and is only attained by experience and hard work.

In 1998 I purchased a lodge on the property that we hunt today. At the time I was the principal of South Sevier High School I worked the hunting club with the help of my family. I retired in 2005 from education and have put all my time and energy into the Rooster Valley Pheasants hunting club.

You may see many hunting operations come and go. On the outside It looks like a lot of fun. But like most businesses the hours of hard work are not easily seen. Longevity in the bird business is hard to come by. Rooster Valley is one of the oldest hunting clubs in the state of Utah.

Expertly Managed Pheasant Habitat

Rooster Valley Pheasants is located 5 miles south of Richfield, Utah. The hunting property takes in 2 miles of the Sevier River. We hunt both sides of the river which give us a diversity of bird habitat and varied hunting opportunities for all hunters and their dogs.

The geography of the land runs form river bottom to sagebrush hills. With "a river running through it" the hunting groups are afforded a lot of natural hunting opportunities. With the lay of the land and a limit of four hunting parties a day hunting groups are guaranteed the most natural pheasant hunting setting available.
